Simple Man

I love nature - it’s probably my most favorite thing. I don’t watch much telly, the telly hardly goes on, but the things I do watch are sort of nature programs, and something about the oceans and the amount of weird fish that’s in there.

One week ago, my internet friend and fellow Norwegian citizen — who is fighting for freedom of speech in the courts of law — Hodlonaut, sent me a DM on Twitter, and asked if I wanted to write an article for the next issue of Citadel21.

I immediately accepted, then went in and read some articles on the website and thought: “Yeah, I'll figure something out, I'll surely come up with something”.

7 days have passed and I've thought about this task a lot, but my mind is completely blank.

Now I'm just winging it, hoping I can provide just a smidge of value. Hodlonaut gave me a deadline at 23:59:59, January 18th, 2023, so I still have a couple of hours left. I don't want to disappoint Hodlonaut, I've made a promise and I intend to keep it.

How do you even pronounce it? Hoodlunaut? Hodlonote?
Probably kind of like “astronaut”, but with HODL. Then again, I’ve heard different pronunciations of “hodl” as well. It’s probably pronounced as it is written; hodlonaut.

I just realized this doesn't really work in text format...

I'm winging it. Fuck it. Maybe I'll just write about how I found Bitcoin, what kind of person I was when I found it, and who I am now, which is drastically different (I've hit puberty since I heard about it).

I first heard about Bitcoin in 2011. I was born in 1997, so according to my calculations 2011-1997=14. I was 14 years old. Not a single hair on my ballsack. I was also under the criminal minimum age in Norway, which is 15. Older than this and they'll put you in prison if you commit crimes against the kingdom of Norway and its people.

I also heard about this Silk Road thing. I thought, screw it, I have nothing to lose, only drugs to gain. I'll order some of the devil's lettuce.

It never showed up.

Years went by, and I basically forgot about Bitcoin. And then finally, in 2015, I tried buying drugs again. We all know that Bitcoin was, and still is, only used for criminal activities. The drugs never showed up. Also, don’t do drugs kids.

It wasn't before, after the drop in 2018, that I got properly orange-pilled and started thinking "Wow, this is actually a great invention that will help a lot of people”.

I never really liked the traditional financial system. I kind of intuitively felt it was a scam — with no real knowledge or experience to back it up. Contrarian, just for the sake of it. Which is pretty stupid, to be honest. Being a sheep is also stupid — but something in between a sheep and a contrarian is probably a good place to be. But, I digress.

Ever since I was a kid I dreamt about being filthy rich. I wanted to swim in gold coins like Scrooge McDuck. As a teenager my dream was to have hundreds of millions of dollars, a castle with servants, a top hat and monocles or whatever.

I’ve never been as content with life as I am right now. I live in a cabin in the woods, which the bank lets me live in (house loan). I just want to pay off all of my debts to the bank, have a security net, be somewhat self-sufficient and have the freedom to work with, and do, whatever I want — when I want. Slowly I’m getting there.

I really appreciate the bitcoin community by the way.

I used to be the only one of my friends who was interested in Bitcoin. There was really no Norwegian bitcoin community for plebs like me around 2015-2018, at least that I was aware of. Even in 2020, when I started my account on Twitter, there was little talk about bitcoin on the "Norwegian" twitter. Now there's people joining all the time and it's growing. It's crazy to see how fast it's been growing.

I hope that Bitcoin will work as a form of World Reserve Currency one day. Replace the dollar, and be a life raft for regular, working people to really opt-out of the corrupt ponzi scheme that the traditional financial system is.

I believe it will happen, in one way or another.

But we'll see. I don’t know anything. And anyone who claim that they do are either aliens or time travelers. Most likely they're just liars, or delusional (or a combination of the two). That's my two sats at least.

Now I'll go grab me another beer and then I'll probably call it a night because I'm going to go work in the sewers tomorrow.

I feel like this is a great time to be stacking sats btw (financial advice).

Peace out, thanks for the opportunity and thanks for the value provided at citadel21.com.
